Finally, it’s over. The losing streak is done. Back to .500.
I haven’t had a lot of time to put up posts, mostly because it’s March Madness, I usually do a lot more research in college basketball. I will post my final 4 picks a little later on.
Anyway, in a way the Raptors got the luck of the Irish tonight. The Hawks got tired in the end lost a couple of key possessions and really gave the game away to the Raptors. Bosh struggled mightily but hit the game winning jumper. The defense played just well enough in the last couple of minutes..
Quick keys to the win:
- Turnovers. We didn’t turn the ball over against a team that could kill on the fast break.
- FT line. We got to the line in the fourth quarter, and got some freebies. Scoring against the Hawks in the half court setting is very tough.
- Fight. They got down 11 in the fourth but they fought back, didn’t quit. That’s all you can ask really.
Winning this game doesn’t change the fact, that I don’t want to see the Hawks in the Playoffs. Horrible match up for the Raptors. They may not have the size, but they got the athletic ability and quickness that the Raptors will have lots of issues dealing with. Their help defense is top notch. They double Bosh a lot, but they are very quick to recover on the help. Just a tremendous job by Mike Woodson.
Ok, final 4 pick: Kansas, Syracuse, Kentucky, Baylor. I don’t think Duke is really that good, but they are lucky that they are in a really weak region. Villanova is probably the weakest # 2 seed. I have them losing in the 2nd round to Richmond. Kansas got jobbed, I am actually worried that they may not get past Ohio St. Evan Turner is the best player in college basketball right now. If Kansas can get past their region, they will win the championship. Kentucky’s youth is really a worry, Texas could be a tough 2nd round match up for them and Temple playing as well as any team down the stretch could provide the challenge to Kentucky. Though John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins are just too talented to ignore.
