Post Game thought: Charlotte Bobcats vs Toronto Raptors

It’s a scary thought: The Raptors may not win a game till December.  It’s possible.  They faced an awful team that couldn’t score and somehow the Bobcats putting 101 points on them.  This is going to be a long winter for Raptor fans, right now it seems like my prediction of 25 wins is a reach.

Toronto: Turnover continues to be a problem, led by Jack with 6.  Bargnani with 5 including the last play when Stephen Jackson just stole the ball from him.  Can they please stop turning the ball over?  It’s killing them right now, they cannot afford to give up possessions and fast break points.  This team isn’t any good to begin with.  Normally Jose would have given more playing time since he has 9 assists and 1 turnover, but he shot 1-9, which hurts the team as well.  DeRozan looks very tentative, his confidence is going down each game.  Kleiza shouldn’t have played, and add insult to injury, Evans is hurt as well. The Raptors got off to a slow start again, they may want to change their starting group, as the Bobcats didn’t even guard Evans and basically the Raptors are playing 4 on 5 on offense.  The bench kept the Raptors in it and gave them the lead, but they couldn’t hold it as the Bobcats just executed better down the stretch.  On the positive side, Sonny Weems had another good game, with 20 points.  They may want to think about starting him.  Kleiza is probably better as a tweener SF/PF anyway.  Amir Johnson had 16/9 in 27 minutes with 4 fouls.  If he could keep his fouls low, I have no problem giving him more minutes. Bargnani played well, despite the turnovers.  He fought for rebounds tonight, and had a couple of steals which is a rarity.  Julian Wright deserved more playing time, he is good defensively, and a very good athlete.  I would start Jack/DeRozan/Weems/Amir/Bargnani for the next 4 games given the injury situation.  And have Wright, Calderon, Kleiza and Anderson coming off the bench, if Evans is healthy then I would have him coming off the bench.

Charlotte: The Bobcats blocked 13 shots and got 9 steals.  4 blocks from Wallace and 5 from Thomas.  Thomas played very well in the fourth quarter, actually the whole team did well in the final quarter.  I thought Stephen Jackson was trying to give the game away to the Raptors early but he hit a couple of big 3s in the fourth.  They had 16 turnovers which I think is actually below their season average.  They have to pray that Wallace/Jackson/Thomas/Augustin can stay healthy, they don’t have a lot of depth.

Next Game: Friday at Orlando.  It will be ugly.
